The Danes were never really in the game and England could have scored more goals if they had been more clinical in front of goal.

Michael Owen opened the scoring for England in the fifth minute with a well-taken goal from the edge of the area.

Steven Gerrard made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute with a powerful header from a David Beckham cross.

Emile Heskey wrapped up the scoring in the 44th minute with a close-range finish after good work from Owen.

England will now face Brazil in the quarter-finals on 21 June.
